Luncheons are hosted monthly and take place in the Carlsbad area of North County on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.  Luncheons are open to Members and Guests. 

Leadership Roundtable (LR) is hosted monthly and takes place in the Carlsbad area of North County on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM.  LC meetings are for qualifying NCHR-SD Members only. 

Please note, meeting locations change. Refer to the specific Event for location details and save the event to your calendar. Cancellations require 24 notice for full refund. All refunds issued to the original payment method.

    SDEA - PHRca® Certification Prep Program starts on January 29th!

    Have you been waiting for us to help you take the PHRca® certification exam?  We can help you feel more confident and prepare for it in just 6 weeks. The PHRca certification demonstrates your mastery of the laws, regulations and HR management practices unique to the state of California. The PHRca is for professionals who either practice in California or are responsible for human resource management in California. You do not have to be located in California to earn a PHRca. Many certification holders add the PHRca to their other HRCI credentials, but this could be your first certification ever.

    Course materials correspond to the 4 functional responsibilities and associated knowledge defined by the HR Certification Institute: 

    • Employment and Employee Relations
    • Compensation/Wage and Hour
    • Benefits and Leaves of Absence
    • Health, Safety and Workers Compensation

    6 Week Program - Wednesdays from January 29th to March 4th

        ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:  

        Douglas P. Colbeth

        Founder & CEO

        Douglas ColbrethDoug and his wife Margaret are Co-Founders of MedCircle, and longtime philanthropists in the field of mental health. In 2002 they established the Colbeth Clinic in Chicago to provide mental health treatment services for primarily inner-city children. This state-of-the-art outpatient clinic has served thousands of children from the ages of four to eighteen.

        Doug has been a successful entrepreneur in the high technology space. His two ventures (Spyglass and Kinaxis) became publicly traded companies with multi-billion dollar enterprise valuations. The success of these two companies has enabled the Colbeth Family to become significant supporters of various mental health and veterans organizations.

        The Colbeths formed MedCircle to help address a major problem facing our society. Access to mental health expertise is far too difficult and costly. The Colbeths believe a combination of Internet and artificial intelligence technologies can be leveraged to help bring the expertise of mental health experts to the public in an easy-to-access and affordable manner.

            The Good, The Bad, and the Healthy: MyPoint’s Can Do Challenge

            These days, employees want work-life synergy, not work-life balance. Work-life synergy is a mutually beneficial relationship between your personal and work life, where both complement the other. As such, wellness in the workplace goes well beyond onsite gyms and gym memberships. Employers must invest in their staff’s well-being on all facets. This includes physical, mental, and financial well-being. Find out how creating this type of employee experience can impact your company in significant ways.

            Our February roundtable facilitators, Stephanie Clausen and Janet Mainenti, will discuss the ways in which their organization, MyPoint Credit Union, works with their staff to create a synergistic environment for work and life outside of the organizational walls, inspiring ‘whole-being’ wellness.


            Stephanie Clausen, PhD

            With a passion for positive psychology and change management, Stephanie has helped transform various companies within retail and the financial services sector for 15 years. While appreciating that the same change management principles followed inside organizations could redirect both personal and professional lives, Stephanie began independent corporate and executive coaching while teaching executive leadership courses at a local university in San Diego 6 years ago.

            Stephanie is currently working with a high performing executive team on a rebranding initiative, disbanding organizational constraints and building a high-trust, high-performance culture within the organization. 

            Stephanie holds a BA in Social Psychology and a PhD in Organization Development. She lives in Rancho Bernardo with her partner in awesomeness, Tyrone, their two sons, Zion (7), River (2), and the family dogs, Martini and Olive. 

            Janet Mainenti, PhD, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

            Janet has worked in human resources for over 25 years in various industries, both domestic and international. Currently, she is the Vice President of Human Resources for MyPoint Credit Union and has been with them since 2011. 

            Janet has her PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, a Masters in Human Resources Management, and a BS in Behavioral Sciences. Janet also has served as adjunct faculty for a number of different universities including Chapman, Keller Graduate School of Management, and University of Phoenix. She served on the NCHR-SD board for 12 years and most recently as president for three years.

                Ms. Coker finds the practice of immigration law rewarding on many levels. Whether she is strategizing with a company regarding the immigration impact of a merger or explaining our complex immigration system to an individual seeking to make the U.S. their permanent home, she appreciates the challenges in our legal system and the real lives impacted by the immigration process. Diana understands her role as an attorney is not only to secure a specific immigration outcome as efficiently as possible but also to advise employers and individuals so they understand the process and feel empowered as a result.

                Diana is an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated* attorney whose practice includes a broad range of business immigration matters including hiring and retaining foreign national employees, implementing overall immigration policies and procedures, and compliance matters such as I-9 and LCA mock-audits and training. Her clients are from a variety of industries and include multinational corporations, start-ups, hospitals, educational institutions as well as individuals.

                Improving our current immigration system is of critical importance for Diana. As a daughter of an immigrant, she has seen first-hand the real-life impact our immigration laws have on families and our community. She frequently speaks with members of Congress and their staff regarding immigration issues and has served on a grassroots taskforce to advocate for positive change. Diana serves as an Ambassador for the American Immigration Counsel and on the Executive Committee for the San Diego chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Diana also lectures and writes on a variety of employment immigration topics ranging from L petitions, PERM labor certification applications, Adjustment of Status, and I-9s.
