What is an Employee Stock Ownership Plan?

Just about every company wants to have employees who think and act like owners. Research and experience show that employee ownership is in fact a powerful tool to improve corporate performance, but how do you create and cultivate an ownership culture? What is an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) and what are the opportunities of this ownership structure?

Our October round-table facilitators, Parag Mody and Seth Stein, will share with the group the exciting journey of selling their privately owned companies to their employees!

Parag is a former finance professional and is currently the Director of Human Resources for Erickson-Hall Construction Co., a UT San Diego Top Workplace. Prior to EHCC, he was the VP of Finance and Human Resources at Cali Bamboo, where he successfully led the sell-side finance and HR due diligence, in a private equity transaction. Parag’s Bachelor’s degree is in Economics from the University of California, Irvine and he completed his MBA from Pepperdine University. He holds PHR/SHRM-CP certifications and has been known to make an amazing tri-tip sandwich.

Seth is President, Workforce Recruitment, Eastridge Workforce Solutions, with 20+ years’ experience in successful revenue and profit generation, organizational innovation, and cross-industry client development in Nevada, Orange County, San Diego, and now internationally.  Seth writes and speaks with strong credibility to business and HR groups on managerial and talent topics.  His BA is from George Washington University, and MS is from University of San Diego. He has served on a number of boards including the San Diego Regional Development Corp, and is known for wry humor.
