We all know, a thoughtful, well-crafted Mission Statement distills the heart and soul of a company in an engaging, memorable paragraph or two. It is the compelling picture of the organization for the rest of the world to see. Yet, how individual members and departments inside the organization connect with, find value in and live the mission statement in their everyday interactions can vary from department to department.

  • A well-crafted department mission statement focuses on the departments’ business for both employees and the target audience. It serves as a framework, giving everyone involved a launching point to build from and build on, directing their interdepartmental communications, giving purpose and direction to daily activities and overall goals
  • In this roundtable, we will discuss the significance of creating a department mission statement and connecting it to the organization’s goals. We will share in a discussion, brainstorming session and begin to craft for ourselves a value-laden, inspirational and specific department mission statement. By virtue of moving through this process for ourselves we can thereby instruct any department or group we are personally or professionally connected with or consult to.
